Nissan Altima DIY PCV

First a “huge shout out” banana: to ETCG for his infinitive automotive wisdom….OK here is my question? Got a 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5S (4th gen). I have proudly completed almost all recommended 100K mile maintenance MYSELF. This is a huge achievement since I have never been mechanical until I learned of ETGY on YouTube. That is another shout out for Eric. banana: Changed the sparks, all filters, brake linings, replaced all fluids and the only thing left is the PCV valve. I cannot seem to find anything on where this plastic screw on valve is located and how to change it. I know they rarely go bad but at 100K and it being a cheap part ($10) I would love to change it. Can anyone help guide a newbie through it! Thanks Community! And if anyone else is new at this – do not be fearful – If I was able to do all this YOU CAN DO IT TOO! Cheers!

Thanks much for diagram. Do you use a socket to remove or is there a special tool involved. It being plastic I don’t want to damage or creat a leak reinstalling the replacement. Does anyone have experience in changing one? Thanks.

If you click on the valve it will zoom in, as you can see it is threaded so you will have to use a wrench and unthread it form the valve cover.

Honestly, I don’t recommend replacing the PCV valve unless Nissan tells you to. Modern PCV valves are not always serviceable items. In fact, many are not even valves anymore but rather baffles inside the valve cover or some other system. Unless you’re having an issue, I don’t recommend replacement of PCV valves on modern vehicles.
