      Hello,

I am thinking of purchasing a 2011 Nissan Altima with the 4 cylinder 2.5L and the CVT Transmission. The vehicle has 30k on it. It also has the upgraded package with Leather, Sunroof, XM radio, navigation, backup cam and the Smart key. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with these Altima’s? I am kind of new to non-domestics. What is the maintenance like and how does the CVT hold up? Thanks!!

Here is the link for it…

        I have a 2004 Altima and a 2013 Altima. The 2004 has 120k and
has never stranded me. I keep all fluids changed 30k intervals
all synthetic fluids. oil and filter 10k mobil 1 When you drive
the car. see if the transmission whines going up a hill.Thats the
only complaint I heard of. Over all fantastic cars.

🙂 My father used to own a 04 Altima s model with the 2.4 engine, but his was pre-CVT transmission. It was a fine auto, lots of power and performance, gas economy was good. We had a few problems with the Altima, the idle would go up and down, requiring a re-educating the gas pedal. It was a problem with the early models, If you get the engine running rich and plug the catalytic converter that is connected to the exhaust manifold and right by the motor, the back pressure would cause the valve seals and rings to blow on the engine and cause a catastrophic failure of the motor. If you perform regular maintenance and do not mess up the convertor, you will find the car to be trustworthy and dependable.
