I believe from the year 2010 and newer (it could be older). For those who are experiencing a loud rhythmic ticking sound coming from the passenger side dash, this is caused from the air-recirculation door actuator. When you turn off your air-recirculation button you will hear the ticking sound. Very easy fix. You’ll need to open your glove box, and press the two sides inward so the glove box will fall further. Look inside and on the firewall you will immediately notice a white plastic piece held in with two bolts(one on top and one on bottom) and an electrical connector. This is the air-recirculation door actuator. It’s a black part with a white plastic top(which is what you see upon finding it). Unbolt the two bolts and remove the connector. The part will most likely have to be replaced (as I’ve never heard of anyone trying to repair it). Part should cost around $20 and you just install it where the old one was. I don’t know what causes this part to fail but upon replacement the problem will be fixed. Hope this helps anyone with a newer ford sedan and is experiencing this problem!
