How long do car parts last?

I would like to keep my vehicle in dependable running condition and thought it would be a good idea to know how long typically car parts last (miles and/or years) so that I can proactively replace items close to end of service life.

For example, radiator hoses, power steering pumps, water pumps, spark plug wires, radiators, wheel bearings, ball joints, alternators, etc.

In particular I am interested in items that would leave me stranded on the side of the road.

Honestly that’s a very subjective question that would be almost impossible to answer. Perhaps a good topic of discussion, but once again, very subjective and dependent on many factors.
