Hi everyone, My name is Linda and was online looking for some help about my car problem/s…stumbled upon this site and thought it looked pretty interesting and informational.
I am woman but I like to try and fix things myself before asking for help, but I’ll take all the vehicle knowledge I can get. I have my own tools and don’t mind if I GET DIRTY.
And if I have any feedback that I can add I will tell ya all I know. (I like to say ” I know a little bit of everything and a lot of nothing” LOL.
I’m also hoping I can get some answers to my (may sound stupid) questions about my car issues.
My older brother is the mechanic in our family and very knowledgeable about vehicles, he’s been a car dude since the 1st matchbox came out and collected them all, started drag racing at 18 and still at it, also an independent auto insurance adjuster. He’s thorough & very FUSSY about his own vehicles. But he’s always so busy I hate to bother him all the time. And that’s another reason I’m here, I’m sure there are a lot of you out there who can probably help me from afar. Thanks for taking a look and looking forward to learning.

I have been a member of ETCG Forums for several years. I have learned a lot from this site. I am also good with electrical. If you have a electrical problems with your car and i have to knowledge to answer it i will sure help you the best I can.

funny that you said you were good with the electronics part of vehicles. I just had a problem with my 20 yr old buick, was running great and sat overnight, when i went to start it there was absolutely nothing, no start no crank, had a couple male friends said oh, its the starter ( just got new battery) and had real bright lights, so i kinda went with their thoughts. that night i stumbled acrossed this site and watched erics video on starters and then got to thinking it may be electrical, tried other key with the chip in it and still nothing, but i noticed the ignition was kinda coming out of the steering wheel with the key & knew right away that wasnt right, had heard that the tilt will eventually break the wire in the steering collum
and told my friends that after they put the starter in & they said “oh thats nothing) then went to start car and still NOTHING. (before that tho, they couldnt get old starter out so i went out and took the fan off from radiator and lifted it out from above). meanwhile called my bro and he said the same thing I was thinking and as is now it is comfirmed..I was right. OMG, I have to say this site helped me out just doing a lil research. Thanks for you offer, im sure there will b more to come as this is like i said 20 yrs old. all original parts on it so far that Ive replaced. I still some issues, but they are more like ball joints, and stuff underneath. THANKS AGAIN, Lindaif the ignition is coming out of the column than that sounds like broken mounts to me. I once had a problem with a ’86 Mercury Sedan. The key was STUCK in the ignition and would not come out had to take the ignition out of the car to get the key out. You most likely can easily access the ignition by just removing the panels around the column and have a look you might be able to do a simple fix of zip ting the ignition in. Without looking at the car i couldn’t tell you for sure how to do it. Seems you may need a new ignition. I have had simular problems to this however in my case it seems in my case the batteries always died never found out why i just charged up the battery and it worked fine after that.
