i have b18b engine with rod knocking or spun bearing idk whatever its called and i also have a b18a good running motor but my b18b was good running before it had the knock. So can i just change the crankshaft from the b18a to the b18b also the b18b block is okay no damage its been checked at a shop just the crankshaft and connecting rod knocking each other or do i have to change the whole short block itself? Of course i will replace main and rod bearings when i replace the crankshaft if it is okay to change?

I had a buick 3.8 with bad bearings, It cost more to do the machining with the parts than it was to buy an engine for 275 and put it in myself, so if you already have a good one I would just use that.

You MIGHT be able to but you can’t just swap parts. You have to make sure that you have the proper bearing clearance so you’ll have to measure each journal on the mains as well as the rods and then get bearings to match everything. You’d be best having a machine shop do the work for you to ensure a lasting repair.
