Hello, I have a 1994 Prelude with a H23A1 Engine and a Automatic transmission. My problem is a high idle, it would go up instead of down when put in Reverse or Drive, and drop when in Park or Neutral, sometimes it would surge. The throttle needs to stay a bit open to stay on, once the car is at operating temperature it would surge until it eventually dies, if the throttle is not open the car won’t start. I’ve had this problem for a while now and I don’t know where to start. I mechanic recommended me to change my IACV and my throttle body since he thought that’s what my problem was before. I had him replace the parts and I got him used OEM units. I’ve checked the voltage on the TPS and it’s where it should be at WOT and closed. The IACV is new as well as the FITV. Now, he did do the timing belt before all this, the ignition timing is spot on, and I’ve put the engine at TDC and inspected the timing marks on the cams and they are on point. I noticed he messed with the idle screw on the new throttle body, I’ve sprayed cleaner all over the intake manifold and found no leaks. Do you think my base idle needs to be re adjusted? Any ideas? Here’s a video of it in action, for the record it use to idle at 650-700 before all this, now it climbs to a 1200-1500, also, when put in Drive or Reverse the sucking noise the intake makes grows even louder, also when it surges it would go up, then down, and as the idle is gonna go down, I can hear a “pop” coming from the intake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veokKBlNyns
