Here’s my question… can a neutral safety switch be good and intermittent. It usually starts in park and neutral, but every now and then goes temporarily dead. OK… here are the details.
I have a 91 Camry, with an automatic transmission. It started having intermittent starting problems… the neutral safety switch.
I took the NSS out, cleaned it and put it back. All worked well for a couple weeks. Then it went out again temporarily. 15 minutes later it starts.
So, my question is, is it worth playing the adjustment game? Can the switch be good and intermittent??
IF the car starts in neutral and park, is the adjustment right? (is it an all or none thing?) OR can it start in both neutral and park and be only slightly in adjustment. For lack of a better description, it is not “centered” in adjustment but rather on the edge.
Trying to figure out whether to try adjusting or just get another one. If it is just a case of poor alignment, then even a new one might not do the trick.
Thanks in advance for insights from those who have experience in this.
