After big o replaced the neutral safety switch on my 87 f 150 automatic I later noticed I had no back up lights. I took the truck to a different person and He said the switch was’nt adjustable. I ordered a switch off e bay that has the small hole to adjust the switch with the end of a drill bit. I alined all the holes up and hooked it all up and it was like I did’nt have a battery. I ordered something other than name brand. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know the bulbs are good.

I would recommend taking the vehicle back to the original mechanic. Their work should be warrantied.
As far as parts; non-OEM parts are usually not a problem, but you need to make sure you get parts designed for your vehicle’s year, make, and model.
I’m not sure what you mean when you say the switch was “not adjustable.” Are you talking about adjusting it in relation to the gear selector knob?

The neutral safety has oval mounting holes to allow for adjusting. Around the middle of the flat surface on the neutral safety there is a small hole to slid a drill bit shaft into the hole with the mounting bolts loose turn the neutral safety switch until the shaft slides all the way in as far as it will go at that time the switch should be adjusted at least according to haynes manuel. When I did that my truck did’nt start in any gear. Since I took the switch off they put on I doubt they would feel obligated. Thanks
