Ok, so long story short. I have to replace the transmission in an 01 explorer. I had to break all of the bolts coming out of the exhaust manifold to the y pipe (would not turn). So I have the tranny out and went to get started to torch out the broken bolts being as the all broke flush. It is so rusty that the manifold its self is started to melt before the bolt will, so i figured, might as well drill them…well i’m using matco high speed bits and they will not even begin to cut into these bolts. Is there any other bit that will drill better? Or any other possible ideas on how to get these out?

Will do, went out tonight and bought a ir half inch air drill, i;ve been using a small angle air drill. Would a hammer drill do anygood in this situation?

I feel like an idiot, i’ve been doing this awhile and handled several broken bolt/studs, but this is messing with me.
