Need some brake advice

      2003 Nissan Frontier 2.4 KA24DE 110000 miles.

A pair of damn idiots attempted to steal my cat. They got the cat off, but our crack security at work caught them. Unfortunately, the damage was already done. Need a new cat, pipes, harness for the downstream O2 and new O2. Unfortunately, they also severed the rear brake line and the master bled out
      before I caught it.

So, since I will need to remove the master and bench bleed it, would it be worthwhile to just replace the master?

There’s no reason to remove your MC. I’ve repaired rusted out brake lines many-a-time that come in with the reservoir empty, which is basically the same condition you have, and It’s never occurred to me to do that. I’ve always been able to just fill it and bleed it out the bleed screws normally, granted it take some time when the system has emptied. I’ve never needed to replace a MC as part of such a repair, and I’ve never had a problem with the pedal not feeling right.

No need to remove the master cylinder for bleeding. You can disconnect the regular brake lines at the cylinder and fabricate some short bleeder lines that attach to the master cylinder and curve up and over the mc and end below the fluid level inside the reservoirs. Pump the pedal until the fluid flows clear without bubbles. Then quickly reconnect the regular brake lines and bleed at the calipers and wheel cylinders. It’s a bit of extra expense, time and work, though.

Like Fopeano said, you can usually just bleed a completely dry system normally with good results. It just takes a while for air at the mc to work along the full length of a brake line to reach the wheel bleeders.
