HI I went to change the PCV valve in my 91 Si (D16A6 original engine) and the PCV, grommet, and lower hose (to the block) were petrified and fused together. I had to destroy the whole thing in pieces and pull the lower hose off the block connection to get it all cleared.

My question: it looks like the lower hose was connected to the bottom of the grommet without a clamp. Is that correct? It’s gonna be tough pushing that on and hoping it stays. Should I use gasket sealant?

Is there a source for the correct hose? My search of various Honda parts places showed it discontinued so I’ll go to the local parts store and try to match it.

Any other tips on this? Thanks

Ok I think I thought out a solution already. The PVC fits snugly into 7/16 inch fuel hose. That hose also fits through the hole in the shelf on the head. So I will cut down the grommet to allow the PVC to protrude, then fit the hose end on it and feed it all through the hole in the shelf.

It most likely does not need a clamp if it fits on tight as there is almost no pressure on the PCV hose at all. A parts store should be able to match it up and cut one to size for you. Don’t use sealant .
