Ok, the part you have labeled EGR is actually your fuel pressure regulator. The other part is the EGR valve (the one to the left) and the temp sensor you have labeled.
Finally, the third item (farthest left) looks to be one of the engine coolant temperature sensors. I think sensor A.
December 15, 2013 at 6:57 pm #569232Where should this Engine Coolant Sensor connected? Computer or Fan?
December 15, 2013 at 7:27 pm #569239Why are you having to do this? Is this a different intake manifold or engine than original? Depending on year/engine some Hondas don’t have that 2nd coolant sensor, just the one by the upper radiator hose. Same goes with different EGR configurations which is why I ask…
December 15, 2013 at 8:16 pm #569249I’m not sure, The engine has been change 4 times already because my mother is so lazy on maintenance. The 2nd or 3rd engine valve cover is color black. I can’t find out if intake manifold was change when they replace the engine because my mother is not getting the old one.
The check Engine Light is on because of the Coolant Sensor.
December 15, 2013 at 8:45 pm #569251Gotcha that’s what I figured. I’d have to check the FSM. You might be able to find a factory service manual to download online somewhere. But then my question would be… If originally the car/computer used that sensor why isn’t it on your harness now? Oh well not a big deal I guess. I ran into the same thing swapping a Prelude engine into an Accord.
December 15, 2013 at 10:17 pm #569254There are 2 extra harness unplug on the driver side that seems like from the old engine. I tried findiing and removing the dash to look for the OBD 2 port in the ashtray but I can’t find it.
December 15, 2013 at 11:42 pm #569271Awww man you’re going to have some fun it sounds like. Idk where else the OBD port would be but just using the codes from the dash light should be enough for what you’re doing. If you post pics of the other connectors I might be able to tell what they are. I’d guess they’re for IABs or something. Lemme see if I can find the info in the FSM
December 16, 2013 at 5:30 am #569320Okay do you know what year the engine is out of? I looked up your connectors and wring diagram, but your posted picture is different than what I see for a stock 1996 Accord with a 2.2. If you can tell me what year the motor is I might be able to help you make it work.
To get you started the coolant temp sensor connector should have 2 wires one is red with a white stripe and the other is green with a blue stripe.
Attachments:December 16, 2013 at 7:20 am #569349Alright so I did some browsing in the FSM… Forgive me I wasn’t 100% accurate before, it’s been several years since I did my engine swap. That particular coolant sensor is just an on/off switch for a given temperature. As mentioned it’s called switch A, switch B is in the outlet by the upper radiator hose. The sensor the computer uses for exact temperature is in the cylinder head under the dizzy, so if you have a code for ECT you might need to look into that one. I really thought my 96 Accord didn’t use that particular sensor you’re asking about but my FSM is for a 94 and has it. From what I found the switch B goes directly to the fan relay, I wasn’t able to find wiring for switch A. But regardless that would cause fan problems from what I understand and not a CEL.
December 16, 2013 at 11:59 am #569397The connector on a 96 body is right behind the ashtray like stiv meantioned
Now if you have a 95 body,
You might want to verify through the vin which year you have. The `10th digit will give the year S is a 95 and T is a 96
Attachments:December 16, 2013 at 4:15 pm #569414Yes there is a Data Port in the righht side. The CEL is caused by the ECT & maybe a leaking gas cap. I don’t think it has a VIN because it’s Japanese Version. I’m still borrowing a camera that can take good quality pictures.
December 16, 2013 at 9:42 pm #569470The engine temperature switch for the dash gauge connector should be a single pin with a yellow w/green stripe wire.
The one for the computer the (ECT) sensor has a red w/white stripe wire and a green w/blue striped wire.
Switch A has a green wire and a black wire.
Switch B has a white w/green striped wire and a black wire.
That’s all I have for a ’96 model and unfortunately the pictures I have and posted for you look different from the one you posted a bit. Hopefully they still might help.
