I’ve been suffering from the passive mode for two plus some years. This is an 02 Subaru legacy GT.

I recently found this article about how to disable it. But I just don’t know where is the location of this description below.

Please look at my attachment. The only white connector is already disconnected. But the car arm the alarm itself automatically after a minute or so, but doesn’t lock the car. So every time I have to unlock the car otherwise the alarm will be triggered.

Am I wrong that the car is not actually in passive mode? The previous owner put a touch screen radio system. So, there’s some after stock wirings. I don’t know if that has something to do with it.

Below is the suggestion I found from online resource.

      To set Passive Mode:
Open driver’s door and remove the plastic step sill that curves up toward the front.
      Connect the single-pole white connectors.
In your case – you’d want to DISconnect the white wires.

Okay so if I understand you correctly you are stating that a P.O. (prior Owner) had some “aftermarket crap” (see video links below) installed and it is now screwing with the STOCK security system?

The only advice I can give you is to return the vehicle to STOCK using parts yard parts if necessary as any other advice would constitute a “how-to” on stealing this year/make/model of car. If returning it to stock doesn’t fix the problem, take it to a competent technician to find & fix the electrical gremlins.

Sounds like the aftermarket stereo is causing the alarm problem best bet is to either return it back to stock for stereo or take it to a mechanic that has the tools to find the systems problem point it would be hard to explain how to fix this problem without explaining how to steal the vehicle which could be bad in the wrong hands
