Can you post the code you have ? since you mention a misfire I would check for a bad plug , plug wire ( question- does this have a dizzy or coil packs )

Yeah, 95 is a strange year cause they were swtiching from obd-1 to obd-2.

so what do you guys think i should do to fix my problem i found that its retarding the timing all the time not just when its needed

I’m confused. Which one do you have? Is the knock sensor directly wired to the PCM or not? Regardless, if the truck is experiencing a severe knock, the PCM would (I think) retard the timing. Have you checked the mechanical timing of the engine? How many miles are on the truck?

Yea you stated that you replaced the distributor, did you set the timing after the replacement? It could be a tooth off or something. It’s also probably a good idea to check for slack in the timing chain as that can cause all kinds of timing problems.

Remove the distributor cap and note the position of the ignition rotor, rotate the engine in the direction of engine rotation (clockwise on that engine I believe) and note the movement of the ignition rotor. Once you are sure that the rotor moves with the crank then rotate the engine in the opposite direction of engine rotation and note how much crankshaft rotation is required before you see the rotor move again, if it’s 7
