Check engine light came on recently, these were the 3 codes I pulled:

      [1640] Quad Driver “A” Error
      [703] Brake Switch Failure
      [705] PRNDL Switch Failure

      Other relevant info (chronological order):
      – I often have a very hard time getting the car out of park (the release button won’t depress) . This started happening months before the check engine light came on.
      – Brake lights got stuck on one day at work and killed my battery
      – check engine light started coming on, but only when the RPM is over ~1800
      – replaced the brake switch, check engine light still comes on (not sure if that particular code went away though)

Any ideas as to what this could be? I assume they are all related.

i wonder if all those components share the same fuse… check your fuses man, maybe its a fuse.

the PRNDL sensor basically tells you what gear you are in, and if it fails it can often cause starting issues, because it lets the PCM know if your car is in park or neutral or in drive…

the Brake switch also is important as it turns on your break lights, and also tells the PCM when your breaks are applied so you can select what gear you want the car in.

i just find it funny that all these components that share very similar jobs, (telling the PCM what controls you are using.) have all popped up as codes at once.

definitely, that’s why I’m hoping someone here can connect the dots

              Updates:

              1. Brake lights have not got stuck on since replacing the switch (have no been able to see if the 703 code disappeared)
              2. I disconnected the Transmission Interlock Solenoid and I no longer have any issues getting out of park (although I recognize this is just a band-aid fix)
