New to the forums here but big fan of ETCG. I really need help with my situation so any advice will be much appreciated! ill try to keep it short. Basically I sold my car (01 neon) for a 2000 celica gt that I was told just needed a radiator and bumper (was in minor accident). Of course after I bought it the car wouldn’t start. Sat for two months, cranks well so we did the diagnostic. Car got fuel and spark so I was scared right then and there. Bought a compression tester and vehicle had zero compression in all cylinders. Just brought it to a shop they tore off the head and told me my camshaft is broken followed by my exhaust valves and I need a new engine. Of course I’m an idiot for not getting my money back but I really want to fix it. My question here is do I really have to replace the whole engine or would I just be safe replacing the head? That would save my life if I could just throw on a new head and have it run fine but the mechanic suggests to just get a whole new engine. I really need help with this. Thanks!
