My mounts are worn and need replacement.

The shop quoted me around $150 per mount. On eBay I find mounts that sell at around $40 per mount.

I intend to replace 2 mounts myself (3rd will be done by the shop) but before I run to order the mounts I wanted to ask if you think these non-oem parts at a third of the cost are reliable? I encountered two brand names:

        Hi Gillius,

Considering the information above, I would go with the non-OEM parts for this based on the cost savings. You will spend $80 for the two mounts, as opposed to $300 at the shop. That is a savings of $220. It sounds like these two mounts are fairly easy to change. Even if these mounts don’t last as long, you could replace them two more times and still be under the shop price of $300.

I am a big proponent of “you pay for what you get”. However, in this senario, I would save the $220 for another time. The one drawback with online ordering is the hassle of returning the part if it is defective. Good luck and keep us posted.

Im a fan of using OEM parts for quality and assurance. However, i understand some OEM prices are not within peoples budget.

Just remember that you get what you pay for when it comes to automotive parts.

I’m with the group on this one, to be honest engine mounts are not that ‘critical’ when it comes to aftermarket parts but if you have an oil leak onto a mount you should address that issue as well because once the new mount is exposed to oil it will break down quickly and fail at an accelerated rate. In addition if you have an engine performance problem (idle too high for instance) this can also damage the new mounts so be sure to ‘protect’ your investment by clearing up any issues that might contribute to their failure.
