need a scanner for my nissan maxima 1987

does someone know where or what kind of scanner i need and where i can get it from i looked everywhere,called everywhere and did about everything and can’t find one affordable anyone know where i can get a descent one.

now the thing is i cannot find the gas sensor or a diagram for my fuel pump circuit

You will need a FSM for your vehicle as that will show you the wiring diagrams in need.

car shakes and doesn’t have power wont move it wont go over 1000 rpms,i’ve changed the plugs,wires,mass air flow sensor,all the belts,just opened up the timing belt and its new,also got a new fuel regulator it was burning more fuel than it should and you could smell the gas so i’ve changed it.

at first it would turn on and it would shake like crazy i made those changes and the car started working better now it turs on and when i hit the gas it still wont go over 1000 rpms but the car stays there it doesnt drop before i made those changes it would drop to like 400 rpms and it wanted to die on me i had to let go of the gas or it would just die…

this are the readings on my car code 11….. crank angle sensor
code 22………. fuel pump circuit and 33….. exhaust gas sensor, now i know there is 2 kind of models or series on this cars.
1 is the canadian version and california version, the california version has alot of sensors which i think is the one i have but not sure
cause i do have the h02 sensor obviously but i cannot find the exhaust gas sensor.
ok i just went under my car and there is nothing on the pipes or headers,only my h02 sensor although i did see something behind the engine and i think goes to the pipe but then again all this hype or just excitment of getting fixed is making me see things.
if there is anyway where some or one of you can tell me or show me a pic of this exhaust gas sensor it would be nice.

i did go to into a nissan’s forums and 1 guy told me that some cars or like i said canadian and californian cars don’t have this sensor, so i like stuck on stupid now lol.

i really need this car for work i being trying to fix it so bad that i think, i’m sure its a minor thing and because of the fact that i want to fix it i might of missed it.
by the way there is leaks on the car i did check my intake manifold gasket it was old and ripped so i replaced it, before this incident my car was working descent i say descent cause its an old ride i post it before and a few have given me some tips and sights where to look but nothing still wont work properly.

^A ‘Factory Service Manual’, which will have all wiring diagrams needed to look at whatever is throwing the code.

Exhaust gas sensor…almost sounds like an 02 sensor? It says exhaust so one would need to follow the exhaust out of the engine and look for any electrically fed sensors, you could always take pics and post them in your other thread if this is for the same car.

It sounds like the fuel system is having an electrical issue. I wonder if checking the wiring at the fuel pump is worth it? The code 11 for a crank angle sensor (aka crankshaft position sensor?) would be worth looking at the wiring to that as well.

The one’s affecting starting and basically ‘normal’ operation(outside of a bad exhaust gas sensor, depending on what that actually is), will be the fuel related code and crank sensor. Could be wiring, could be the part. Or your timing could be off, didn’t read your other thread through, yet. So…anyway:

Instead of a code pulling machine, get yourself a good DVOM or just pay a shop to check those 3 things if it’s too much to invest into one(depending on results after looking around), but if you get your hands on one eric has some videos on how to use one on his youtube channel. OR ask around here for tips on which wires to test, etc.

This comes back full circle to needing a FSM. Ask around Maxima forums that have enough contributors and see if someone has a link to some wiring diagrams for the vehicle, sometimes you have to pay but its worth it if legit. Especially if you want to keep the car for a long time.
