Every once in a while I reflect on my life and career and how far I’ve come. This video represents one of those time. Honestly, I just want to thank all of you for giving me the best job ever. ETCG fans really are the best.

May 6, 2014 at 7:21 am #598738I have wondered, on occassion, what it must be like to be ETCG so thanks for sharing, Eric.
I had to chuckle when you talked about the parking lot incident at Harbor Freight because if I were in that same situation I would probably react the same way 🙂
If you think the word famous feels strange then it must be just as strange to be referred to as a role model/mentor?
So would you say that the time you invest (10-12 hrs/day, 6 days/week) to make ETCG/ETCG1 work is similar to the time you invested while in school at Rosedale?
Thanks for all you do, for being such a positive influence and an awesome teacher, Eric. I have learned so much from you and have really enjoyed my automotive journey (which is expanding to include an air compressor, opening new doors for me, ie. air tools, wahoo!)

I really appreciate your words. Thank you.

That’s only part of what I do. Remember I’m also a video producer. I wear many hats and it’s hard to put a label on which one sums them all up. Thanks for the suggestion.
May 6, 2014 at 11:21 pm #598831Now that I know, for the couple youtube channels I subscribe to, I’ll leave adblocker off and put the videos on loop! You’ll get my five cents eventually.
My mom has been running her own book-keeping and tax business for the past 10 years now. Seeing her do that has given me a completely new understanding and appreciation for small businesses. I’m glad for people like you and her because while you may not be employing a lot of people, you are the small business owners that genuinely want to help others and aren’t in it for money.

Well I’m partly in it for the money. I’d hate to do all this work for free. Besides, business don’t last long without profit.
I get where you’re coming from though and I appreciate your comment.
May 7, 2014 at 2:55 am #598938I didn’t mean to imply that you should do the work for free. Once I’m in a more comfortable position, being a premium member is on my list of “wants.”
What I meant to say is that small business people like you go above and beyond what you actually earn all the while dealing with people who never realize the difficulty of managing a successful business, making it profitable and dealing with customers who don’t want to pay a fair amount for a good work. I appreciate what you’re doing, and I think it’s good for you to post these videos about the non-repair work for us ETCG fans (even on the days you don’t want to be famous!)

Sorry, I meant that as more of a tongue and cheek comment. I didn’t mean to sound defensive.
Thanks again for your comments.
May 10, 2014 at 12:02 am #599647You’ve certainly been an inspiration to me, Eric. I’ve had more confidence and motivation to do more work to my car since discovering your ETCG channel. You have, in turn, allowed me the opportunity to teach others from what I have learned from you.

You, and others like you, are the reason this job is so awesome. Thanks very much for your comment.
September 11, 2014 at 5:29 am #629771Another great video, man. I just watched a few other great ETCG1 vids I haven’t seen (I’m still only a few months familiar with you so there’s tons of older stuff I’ve never seen), and I wanted to join the discussion on this to say how good you are with the pressure of the camera.
You mentioned it in this vid and it really resonated because I’ve started posting videos of things I do on Youtube and I feel the pressure even though it’s purely recreational for me. I have lots of trouble saying planned things out loud without mis-speaking if I’m trying to shoot a video and talk about it at the same time. It’s usually a disaster, even though I’m pretty quick witted and speak well in person normally. Lots of respect for dealing with that so well, that’s all.

Yea, it’s not as easy as some might think. Good luck with your productions and thanks for joining the site.
