Engine compartment required some work, some welding is done and now I’m trying to sort out the finish for the paint.
Paint type and clearcoat.
Must be a heavy duty, and AMCAR paint seems rather nice with a clear coat ontop, It’ll shine more with some more layers of clear.

Frontend received proper sanding, angle grinder with a flappy disk.
You can see to the left in the reflections (bad pic but still eligible) that there have rusted a bit there… but It’s all common, so no worry;)

Also got another small project, a E46 320 that I made a thread for too, It’s rather sensible so for you guys not wanting mad mods, full suspension upgrade and engine rebuilds can look at that too πŸ™‚

Wow, a Month since last update, Better give some updates then.

Gotten on some camber plates, Tein Pillow ball ones for my KW’s.
The guys I bought the coilovers from had used incorrect nuts, so the threads were Messed up!!!
So we had to repair them, but thankfully it worked nicely!
We went from M12x1,25 to M12x1,75 and that worked like a charm!

We had issues holding the strut, so we “deformed” the strut at the top cause we had to hold it, it’s even all around like a circle, and it won’t compress that far so it’s no issue…
But guys, remember, correct threads, put the bolt in straight.
If it’s rusty and your unsure, just clean the damn thing πŸ˜›
No matter how good of a mech you are, threads are gonna mess you up πŸ˜›

But anyways!, this is the end result.

I’ve also managed to get a brake caliper on the right side of the car.
Just had to buy some M14x1,5 bolts, use a 14mm bore drill bit.
drill the knuckle so a M14 bolt would fit, the stock are M12x1,25.
cut the brake shield, bend it a bit and install.

And this is the result πŸ™‚

I also installed braided lines from Apex Performance.

And with the rim, doesn’t fill all too well, but far better than the stock ones.

And the engine is very much ready for install, just got very minor things like:
Sort out threads for water inlet for turbo on the block.
and connect all the water hoses.

after being bummed by the banjobolt for water inlet to the turbo we’re going M14->9/16 to AN4 or something.

just a PITA tbh..

Anyways, the engine is in!!!

we forgot the clutch spacer disc between the gbox and engine block, but we’ll test start it and see if it works at all.
If yes, just take the gbox off and then install the disc, clean up wires and everything else πŸ™‚

I’ll come with a update tomorrow hopefully on the startup πŸ™‚

Bit Late but here’s a video of the first minutes after rebuild.

It was started 5 times at 10 seconds each prior to this, massive vacuum leaks and such, but hey it runs! banana:

Gonna do ignition and all the adjustments soon, then get a turbo and put it on πŸ™‚
Also Power steering cooler from a Dodge ram will come on.

3 weeks and 3 days since last.. and progress have been made!

Current todolist:
Buy Fuelrail (Mazworx)
Buy 4x 1000CC injector Dynamics injectors.
Find final location for relocator.
Weld on AN Connectors for the PS cooler.
Route Charge cooler pipes, pump and reservoir
Install new turbo with all modifications that needs to be done to fit it (yes it’s big!)
Sort out ignition timing, off by a 3-4 degree’s need a proper tool to get it right πŸ™
Install new fog lights in the front bumper.
Get the Emanage to run with the new setup (idle and slow)
Map the car.

So what I’ve been up to.

Well, this big bad boy was bought, a Garrett 3071R with a odd turbine, 56,5 mm 0,86 AR T25/28 flange and 04 housing.

Sorting out the other caliper (already installed)
Made a caliper stand for the coating πŸ™‚

Here is the coating in progress.

Also the power steering cooler (which will get AN connectors.

ultimate deadline is 1st of may, then the snow is 100% sure gone, and we have a planned event πŸ™‚

Things are starting to wrap up, things are mounted, tested, fabricated to fit.

AN conversion on Power steering Return:

Welded on AN connectors for the dodge ram cooler, it was seriously thin!

Intercooler piping done, so easy with so short routing, actually just re-used stock parts, will replace those ugly blue silicone hoses with black one for a stockish look.

Made two brackets for the oil cooler:

Also the threads on the block I was talking about, here you got the O2 sensor plug (top) and the M16 to some inches format to AN4 for the water feed to the turbo.

and this is how things looked a week ago πŸ™‚

Little update, quite a lot have happened, but I will explain what was done later on πŸ™‚

we mapped it yesterday, having issues with cam sensor and wastegate on the turbo resulting in not much boost or good ignition settings.
you can clearly hear the WG issues in the end of the video.
And I’m not happy by the results at all! , however I’ll drive this summer and get on it next winter, I’ll sort out the cas issues and then I can bring her over 300 whp probably.

many updates.
I haven’t explained a lot how I got from A to B from the two last posts.

So, I dropped the piggy back completely, went for a standalone ECU, Maxxecu is the name, sweedish design and manufacture.

Making harness adapter, didn’t have time to make complete loom

2000 usd, little pricey but it includes a whole LOT!. 8 K type temp inputs for exhaust gas, map sensor, Wideband sensor (calibrated) wiring, all you need on a stock engine apart from a temperature sensor!.

Maxxecu hardware

Also, I made some custom piping for IC and mass airflow sensor delete.

made a fan shroud:

Changed fuelrail and Injectors, Mazworx billet aluminium fuel rail with Injector Dynamics 1000CC
Powder coated black

Oil catchtank with a condensation plate inside and with venting back to inlet as rules for emission specify here, later powdercoated black

Replaced CAS disc with a less accurate as heat made the holes in the cam sensor become too small and failed to get proper signal, replacing it solved issues above 6500 rpm, and 7300 rpm was instant cut, no more!

Dyno papers with wastegate issues, high intake temp (55C, got it down 15C ! now) also high engine temp, replaced hoseclamps to prevent leak, aswell as a colder thermostat, 68C versus 76.5C that is standard nissan + the cas issues, hence the reason why the dyno actually stops at 6500rpm, we called it a day but in the video we made 314 whp, 1 and half hour prior to the dyno sheet.

Will update on new winter plans, and final MAJOR engine rebuild where the head will really be focused on, aswell as more electronic management, intake plenum.
Bottom end will be the same seemingly proven now with 2500+ hours driven hard.

And remember, the dyno is conservative, where a mustang dyno measured a audi at 900 whp, this measured 730.
