      Hi All,

I have this weird phenomena recently. When I start my car in the morning while cold outside, it starts right away really good in a touch, but after the car was setting in the sun all day after work and it’s hot, the car has trouble starting!
I can hear the fuel pump working when turning the switch on.
It takes it 2-3 and sometimes more tries to start. I also noticed that when giving it a little throttle while starting (when hot) it helps a bit.
What could be the problem? is it not getting enough fuel or air when hot?
Could it be a bad Air pressure / Air temperature / Throttle Reheating sensor?
      It is a 1997 Peugeot 106 GTI 16V. Here’s a detail of the intake / throttle:

      Thanks

OK, next idea is to find the line that goes from the canister to the engine. Disconnect that line from the engine and plug that port, I’d leave the canister hose open to atmosphere but direct it away from the engine. Observe what happens over several days. You may get a check engine light as a result of this. If the problem goes away then there is something amiss with the purge control system for the evaporative emissions. Try to find some factory service manual diagrams/process of operation information for it.

Hallo, I googled and found this forum with this qustion, I have the same problem with Mitsubishi Lancer 1996 since i bought it 5 years ago. Everything great, but when it is hot outside and the car is parked on sun, it is not starting on first crank, but it needs a second or two cranking time. Then it starts at very low RPM for a half a second or second until it raises RPM and runs normal… I was looking at everything, but can´t find what could couse it. Tickling the gas pedal helps. My car has bonnet insulation removed, so probably there is too much heat under it and ECU thinks it is hot altrought it is cold? Let me know if you figured what was cousing your problem. Thanks a lot 🙂 (Sorry for bad English, I´m from Slovakia)
