Hi there, I have a 2003 Accord 4 cyl with 220000 km on it which has a oil burning issue (1 litre per 500 km). As of late, the car has been throwing 4 CEL codes (refer to the picture below) every other week. The car runs fine, has good power and has great fuel economy too, with or without the CEL on. What could the issue be? I’m thinking spark plugs but i’m not entirely sure yet.

Misfires like that typically need to start with new spark plugs unless there is a obvious problem or the plugs are in new condition. Even if plugs look new, they can have a crack in the porcelain or it can be separated from the metal. You have to take them in your hands and make sure the porcelain is tight and the whole thing feels like one solid piece.

Bosch, NGK, or Denso plugs only in the Jap cars, no Autolite, Champion, Delco, Motorcraft, etc.

If the misfire due to anything but a failure to spray fuel, then unburned fuel is getting on the catalyst every time a cylinder misfires and that would account for the measurable damage it has suffered.
