      if you was going to buy a new car.what brand motor oil would you use.not counting weight.just brand.

        I personally run Castrol in everything I own ( and have for many many years ) works for me.

          I also use Castrol in everything i own that has a piston and have done for 40 years. You would have to rely on the manufacture owners manual for the correct grade.

          That said some GM models requir “Dexos” spec oils to maintain your warranty,so be aware.

            I’ve ran castrol in all three vehicles I have owned. I hate pensoil. It is no better than baby spit in my opinion. Now Amsoil is also a good oil, but with 40 year old gaskets currently, them gaskets need to stay swollen. I may switch to the motorcraft synethic whenever I redo the gaskets though.
