Wow, man, that’s horrible. I’m glad to hear you’re OK!

You never know with some places. Even though I bought my used car from a dealership (not a certified car or anything) that detailed it and refurbished it to an extreme degree, I still made sure that I was fully covered the minute I rolled off the lot, because I had no idea if something like you described would go wrong. Fortunately, I got lucky, and they ended up doing a good job on the car (although they used the wrong power steering fluid). Just goes to show you that sometimes a one-time subscription to a company like AAA can be a good idea, at least while you work out the kinks on a “new” (to you) car.

Personally I always avoid buying insurance, except liability insurance and health insurance. When you don’t buy insurance you are effectively self insured, cutting out the middle man. Insurance might have paid for the tow but wouldn’t have prevented the near death experience.

            Oh..man glad your ok.
The golf is ok too right?
I’m a Vw guy so it makes me really sad when old vw’s get trashed.

              thanks for the reply’s guys,

@Trcustomes719, yes the golf’s “fine” so far the damage is a front valance, n/s/f hub, ball joint, wish bone, front wings , bonnet and bumper, slam panel and wheels… seeing as i’m skint broke atmo i got the parts of a vw club member in exchange for a recon gti 16v engine.. good deal i think.

@spellunkerd, your right, insurance wouldn’t of prevented the near death experience but it would of help had things gotten worse.. insurance is mandatory here in the U.K but in my opinion they’re there to screw you… on the other hand i only really buy insurance incase i hit anyone else , should they get injured or worse, my insurance is there to financially help out.

, this has certainly shown me why breakdown cover is a must… for around half the price of the one recovery i could have full 12 month breakdown cover…

              thanks again guys
