I posted a while ago about blowing the engine in my 2000 malibu LS. I put a new engine in and I’m having problems getting the catalyst and evap monitors to become ready for NYS inspection. I’ve driven the balls off the car at highway speeds, city driving for about 250 miles and evap and catalyst are still not ready. I’ve followed the driving procedures to get the monitors to set but to no luck they still are not ready. Any tips on what I can do or should I just keep driving the car?

I think you can pass NYS inspection with 2 monitors not set on a 2000. That being said we put in many evap units in our chevy taxis. They are in the back near the gas tank, and rot out all the time.

Those drive conditions can be hard to meet at times. If the above doesn’t work out I think you can force the monitors to run with the right scan tool. I know the GM tool with do it but there may be another one out there that can. You might call a local shop to see if they can help you with that if you don’t pass.
