This might be an interesting one…
Im about to replace my old exhaust manifolds on my old ST200. Its a 2,5 V6, and has two manifolds, both bolted on with five bolts each. I had a look at the bolts, and as you can see, they are unsurprisingly very rusty. Now, i don’t like rusty bolts. Especially when they are bolted onto the engine block. I can’t get to them with my impact. I also don’t have a torch.
Also, the fat pipe going onto the manifold is the EGR-pipe. It sits on threads. How the heck am i ever going to get it off, im sure those threads are good for nothing after it has been sitting there for 14 years.
How have you guys got old manifolds off, especially in tight areas? Would love to hear Eric’s thougts on this.
I would also like to thank you Eric, your videos have taught me a huge amount of stuff, and helped me out of countless situations when something has gone wrong, or not like the repair manual states. I have also found an enthusiasm to doing repair work on my car, even if it’s frustrating sometimes, i still enjoy it.
