mk2 ford escort panelvan custom lights(need help)

hi I’m new to the forum but not new to cars any way i have a mk2 ford escort panel van (British car) and i want to put a mk2 front bumper on the rear and use the built in indicators as reversing lights but i don’t know how to make the amber lights clear i was thinking of putting them in chlorine to remove the die but i don’t know if it will work and also does any one know if a mk2 ford escort 2ltr can run on unleaded its an Australian model if that helps

I think putting the amber lights will be damaged by the chlorine. I’m going to presume that you’re referring to the lens, rather than the bulb as the part that’s amber. If that’s the case, you could get some clear plexiglass and cut it to size and just replace the amber lens with clear plexiglass. If it’s a clear lens with an amber bulb behind it, just put in a clear bulb.

Alternately, you could go to {insert local auto parts store here} and get yourself a pair of aftermarket fog lights and mount them underneath the bumper facing toward the rear to act as reverse lights. Just wire them into the factory reverse light wiring and you won’t have to do any other modifications to the lights.

thanks for the help i think my best bet will be to get aftermarket clear lenses because the lights are molded in to the bumper fog lights will look out of place but thanks for the idea
