I have a 1991 ford probe yes Ive herd it enough to know that is my problem lol.
I have changed plugs and plugwires because it was missing. That cured the problem
2 months ago. Now it is pulling and driving great after you get speed built up.
when it is idling or when you give it the gas it is missing and cuts out.Do You have any suggestions on what to do to repair it? Thank you Mike

Check the ignitiin coils. Use a spark tester (theres many) and go one by one. If you find a weqk or intermittent spark then swap that with a known good wire which will verify. I had the same problem on my ranger. Only mine would miss pretty bad under heavy load at highway speed.

Have you been able to get codes from it?

Even though the Ford probe has a Mazda engine it has the Ford diagnostics so this should work to get your OBD I codes

If the miss isnt occuring enough to throw a code then a power balance test will help isolate the missing cylinder (s). Then begin testing….hope all goes well

Check the air intake hose between the MAF sensor and the throttle body. I have seen several over the years that have splits or holes in them that open up when the engine torques under acceleration.

That causes the fuel mixture to go lean and could cause the problem you are having.

Try checking/cleaning the IAC– seems to be an idle issue, right?

Hey guys Thanks for all the info on this problem of misfiring.I was checking out
some of the things suggested. I found the problem tho, so I thought I would share the find. I found that the ground cable was loose on the battery. Had me confused because going down the road it ran find. But when stopped at a light and taking off it would almost kill the emgine.
