 Okay folks, back again with my 1996 Integra 1.8 DOHC non-vtech. Finally replaced the crank shaft sensor and check engine light finally went off. Now, my car is still having rough acceleration issues. It’s rough in neutral at about 2300rpm and if I’m driving at a stable speed. Today when I checked the codes after the light came back on, it read misfiring on all 4. Any suggestions??

Is EGR valve and passages clean? How about ignition system – are plugs, wires, cap, rotor, icm, and coil o.k.?

I did some research tonight and was going to check the EGR valve tomorrow. Plugs are brand new. Wires haven’t been changed. Cap, rotar and distributor have never been changed since I bought the car 5 1/2 years ago. Didn’t know about the ICM as I’m a DIYer. I’ll start with the EGR in the morning. Cap and rotar might need to be replaced anyway. It’s cheap and no telling when or if it’s

I would look at the condition of the cap and rotor, make sure there isn’t oil inside the distributor, check function of the EGR valve, and that passages are clean, also fuel pressure, and coil / ignitor.

              Start here:

The way distributor is on those, sealing O-rings allow oil into distributor after some mileage, causing ignitor and coil issues. Plus, most likely, cap and rotor is worn out anyway. I am alsmot positive it’s distributor.

Where would the passages be? I saw the video where Eric cleaned them but my car is different

OP, simply buy repair manual for your car. Locate EGR valve, remove it, and spray clean valve and where it was mounted.
I doubt it will fix the issue though. EGR does not cause misfiring symptoms. It influences acceleration response and may manifest itself in engine bogging under acceleration at low speeds. Also, you’d have had EGR failure code blinking.

I’ll clean the EGR and go from there. My friend has a Del Sol with the exact motor. We’re going to swap distributors and see what happens as well.

Just an update. My car doesn’t have an EGR valve. I went to replace the cap and rotar and sure enough, the screw was not in place and was just laying in the distributor housing. The rotar was cracked. Replaced the cap and rotar and running smooth again.

And that’s what you love about Hondas. It’s either simple stuff and oversight or it’s a major catastrophic failure – after about 300 000 miles.
Yes, I do know the screw. I had my share of frustration with them. Or, one that does NOT have the screw and refuses to come of the shaft.
