My mother drives a 2002 4Runner. On a windy day, she was getting inside her car after work. There was a gust of wind which yanked the door from her hand while she was closing the door. The yank deformed the door to where it closes but it is not a complete seal. Luckily no water can enter but wind noise is terrible. Currently the door sits a little higher against the frame. The misalignment is obvious when going over bumps when hear the door bounce with each bump. I like to realign the door so there will be a complete seal. Any tips?

You really need to see a body shop on this. When the wind does this, even on brand new vehicles, the door jam area where the door hinges are becomes deformed. This is best left to a body shop as they have special equipment that can measure and repair this.
Ice seen this happen a lot and I wish it was a simple fix, but it really should see a body shop asap. Let me know what they say and feel free to post pics. I’m retired now but I did autobody for a long while. I’m always happy to help.

It looks like the door gap is larger nownthan before. That is because the door jam area was stretched hard when the gust of wind caught it. My friend, please go get a free estimate at a body shop. This is not a cheap or easy fix.

That’s what I thought. Time to start looking.
