2006 mazda tribute runs perfectly fine. Put it in drive or revere it stalls. Come to a stop and it stalls.Multiple parts cleaned and new parts put in, still doing it. We are at our wits end. And praying it’s nothing to do with the torque converter. In giving myself hope.. ha.

Didn’t take me to it just took me to everything.I’m trying to learn what I can and help my husband bc he is ready to blow it up haha. I just found ETCG lastnight and was awake until 1am looking at vidoes and forums about my problems. Didn’t really see a 100% answer yet. Thank you I will look up the stall speed test when I get off work.

Mazda has actually put out a Technical Service Bulletin(TSB) about this issue. It is TSB 05-004/07 unfortunately it deals with a know problem with worn torque converters. You could probably google it and read it yourself.

Yea I read about that. But why put it as a tsb and not a recall sence it’s a known problem. I don’t have 700$ to fix the issue if it really is the torque converter.

Is your idle speed too low?

The car ran perfectly fine after my husband slammed on the breaks bc he almost missed a turned. The next red light is when it stalled. After shutting it off for a doc app. Is when it kept stalling when we were trying to back up. Kinda hard to believe him slamming the brakes had anything to do with it but it’s kinda weird it was fine until then bc I was driving it to pick him up frpm work then he drove

Also, noticed maybe 2 weeks after driving it, it started going through gas faster than normal. My brother n law said he checked fuel filter and it was ok. It also vibrates alot when started and stopped still but I’m sure that had nothing to do with it and it’s another issue. But before we had time to look at it the car started stalling. Also the tranny fluid is very very dark and smells. So figured that could maybe be an issue and we need to do a tranny flush.

Most times its a recall because of government mandate or it posses a safety concern to the occupants. Their is far more TSB’s for issue’s manufacturers have with vehicles than there is outright recalls. Cant explain what stomping on the brakes has to do with it. You might just need to have it checked by a professional mechanic.

Yea. We were gonna take it to ford mazda 98 to diagnose but I don’t have a tag so I have to tow it and didn’t have an extra 100 for that.. so I just went out and started it up and heard a loud hissing. It hissed before and we couldn’t find it but now it’s 10 times louder so I’m guessing I have a vacuum leak? Forgot to see whqt the rpm was at idle so started it back up but I ran out of gas haha. It was at 1500 then went to 1000 before it started going down from running out of gas. So my next question is where is the hose leak? And could that be my problem?

If its a big enough vacuum leak then yes putting it into gear could stall the engine. Does the engine run bad in park?

Nope I think it sounds great. Don’t hear anything odd or loud besides the major hiss

What’s weird is now my back windows won’t go down my radio decides it wants to get louder on its own about 5 sec after starting the car and now my lock lights on the outside don’t work. This all just happend last week.
