In my 2002 mazda 626, I have been chasing a low idle problem for a very long time. I have finally narrowed it down to having low compression in two cylinders. Yesterday I got a p0303 code which means a misfire on cylinder 3 and a p0126 which means misfire detected for the first 1000 revolutions. Even though I got the check engine code for cylinder 3 and its compression was very low (about 70 and it should be about 180), cylinder 2 is relatively low as well at 120 psi. During the wet test on cylinder 3, the compression shot up to about 125. Being that the wet test temporarily helped the compression, am I safe to say that the problem is with the lower part of the engine itself and not the cylinder head or its components?
