      Hey out there, I have a 1990 Miata mx5. I also have an extra engine ! My son says that it might be different from the one that is in the car. How can I tell if it is the same engine? The one in the car is a 1.6 ltr. Thanks Matt

        block or head casting numbers might give you a clue. just hunt for them then you can do research on the net to see what mazda did with those blocks.

        OR you can be uber cool and shove a chevy LS1 into the miata….

            +1 on the LS1. I’m also for checking the casting numbers. They put those there to identify engines and cylinder heads for that very reason.
