Looking to get an impact gun, since all my non-automotive tools (drills saws etc) are either battery powered or mains powered I dont have an air compressor so it makes little sense to go down that route.

After watching Eric’s reviews on the AC Delco and Dewalt battery impact wrenches and seeing how the cheaper ones struggled, I’m tempted by a mains powered impact because they are cheaper, less bulky and seem to offer more torque.

The tool I have my eye on is a Clarke CEW1000 1/2″. Here are the quoted specs:
      1000 Watt, 230V motor
      Max. torque: 450Nm
      No load speed: 2200rpm
      No load impact rate: 3400ipm
Drives bolts up to a max size of M12

I’m not an automotive technician by trade so the tool will only see occasional suspension, exhaust and engine mount work although the cars I work on tend to have rusted bolts!

What do we think? What is the justification for a $285 battery impact over this which is £67 ($112)?
Perhaps this is a more viable option in the UK because our mains is 230v/240v whereas it is only 110v in the USA?
