Im looking to build a rally car from any small 4cyl hatchback that turns up in my area, more than likely a for fiesta.

I’d like to remove ALL of the unneeded accessories in the vehicle and just leave a speedo and tacho, is the wiring harness within the car all one and hooked just into the fuse box and computer? Or do I need to modify parts of the engine even to remove the whole harness. My ideal thing is just to have the computer control the engine and nothing else, but I don’t know how to do that. I’m sure the computer has to be reflashed im sure… right?

I have never attempted a job like this, just thinking about it gives me a headache lol. I would assume it would depend on the year make and model. Just start will stripping the interior. Seats. door panels ect.

thats my plan, nothing is going to be in the car besides the front seats (racing seats) dash, steering wheel and rollcage, I dont want any panels, and carpeting haha

Once you chose the car you’re going to rally in, I’d strongly recommend that you rally round the wiring diagrams and before you start cutting, pulling and removing, look at what the component is wired to and what else is in the circuit. Then decide whether you need to rewire or bypass something in order for other things to function, like the ignition.

For example, in some older Fords, if you disconnect the seatbelt sensor in the passenger seat, it disconnects power to the idle control on the carb leading to rough idle and stalling.
                Good luck !
