hi, i just replaced my transmission filter and gasket and also replaced the transmission mount since it was basically collapsed and now i need to add 5 quarts of oil. since i only get 4 quarts from the gallon jugs and there are none 5 quart ones i would need to buy one more quart. should i substitute this quart with the lucas oil stop slip transmission fluid?

i dont think my transmission slips. i think it may take a tad longer to shift than normal though when cold. it also shifts (i dont know how it would do now with 5 quarts of new oil) but it shifts hard. mainly from first to second gear. i think only when its cold. there are no clunks, no unusual sounds, just a shift into gear that jerks the vehicle.

i do plan on changing my speed sensor eventually because it does leak.

so should i just get 5 quarts of dextron or 4 quarts and lucas?

the oil that came out was not red but didnt smelled burned or anything else thats unusual

i obviously have not drove my truck yet because i need fluid so i cannot give any information on if the transmission runs better or not yet

what i would do is get the lucas slip and add to the fluid as a top off but to really be safe i would get a suitable clean transmission fluid bucket try to catch as much as your fluid as possible get you a funnel put your new filter in and install your tranny pan and put the old fluid back in your tranny and if you need to top it off then i would add the lucas slip oil even if the tranny fluid is a little low you still can add the lucas slip oil as a top off you can do that to as well

Lucas would be a fine substitute for it..

I would substitute half of a quort to 1 quort but best bet use the Lucas as a top off like other have said fluid should be red also I would replace it all if you got it open

It’s always nice not having to use a breaker bar
