I’m have a nuance issuse with my 04 neon. When I pull up to a stop, the idle goes down to around 500RPM. When I put it in reverse or drive, The idle goes back to normal. It seems like it only does this when I give it gas after I’m decelerating. I’m thinking throttle related?? Thanks

I would take a look at your IACV. Sometimes tapping on them with a screw driver can change the idle if they are bad.

I would also be looking at carbon deposits on the throttle plate.

        Any CEL?

No. But I have the service manual. I’ve printed out related low idle codes.

There are alot of things it could be. I’m with dreamer

don’t rule out vacuum leaks. not sure if you car has a MAF or a
IAT? either way you may also want to pull the one you have and
            clean it.

I have an IAT. My IAC has an internal pindle, so I don’t think I can clean it. I will check for vacuum leaks.

Not sure if yours is the same but my 1996 Neon has the MAP/IAT combination sensor in the intake manifold plenum 2 bolts to remove but be careful not to mess up the seal when you pull it out to clean. I used carb cleaner on mine to clean it.

Mine is I. The iat is in the air duct.

you can use carb spray or throttle body cleaner.

Cleaning sensors doesn’t often do any good unless it’s a MAF sensor. That said I recommend looking for vacuum leaks and also following the procedure outlined in these videos.

Sorry to hear that. At least you don’t have to worry about the idle anymore. Thanks for the update.
