Over the winter this strange noise started to happen. I pull out of a parking space in reverse, stop, shift into drive and as I am doing that (or after turning the wheel) I’ll get a single knock sound that I can sometimes feel in the gas pedal. I looked at just about everything down there suspension related, ball joints, struts, springs, lower ball joints, end links, etc…nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Then I noticed a lot of grease leaking from an otherwise sealed looking axle. I grabbed hold of it and I can somewhat replicate the noise I am hearing by pulling/pushing the inner part from the transmission. I don’t know much about axles, never replaced one, but I don’t think this is normal…
Details: 2006 IS250 AWD lowered 1.25″ on megan springs. No other modification. This is the front-left axle.
