Hi, you are all probably getting sick of me asking questions but with my car, once you fix one thing something else breaks…

Anyway on my 1990 vn commodore its engine is loud. Not loud as in the exhaust etc its just loud, hard to explain. I dont think its got to do with anything like alternator bearings etc its just annoying as fuck and im fucking sick of it. Ive seen the same model car as mine have quieter engines.

You might want to check all your pulleys. The bearings can go bad and cause very loud noises. If none of the pulleys you can get to aren’t noisy then you might want to check the timing belt pulleys.

Here is a good video of an example.

Usually when a car gets to where one thing after another is going wrong, it is time to look for an upgrade. Especially when those problems are serious.

But for the engine noise right now, maybe post a video on youtube and link to it?

Actually it’s a NZ made vehicle:

              New Zealand

The VN series was assembled in New Zealand between 1988 and 1990. For the first few months of production it was actually assembled alongside its predecessor, the VL. This was due to the VL Commodore being slightly smaller, and offering a 2.0 L inline-six Nissan RB20E (for New Zealand only) or 3.0 L RB30E straight-six engine, also by Nissan.

Hey, for starters, run a can of Seafom through the oil, for about 300 miles, do oil change, then run 2nd can for about 500 miles, and do oil change.
Btw, cars are like pets. You like them – they like you back. You call them names and bitch at them – well, they can be pretty intimidating then. Got to TLC them, you know.

Either way Holden is somewhat foreign to me. I only know about them through Aussie V8 Supercars.
