Eric, I miss your old style of videos. They seemed very laid back, you’d crack a joke every once in a while, and it just seemed like you were having fun. Now that you have your new shop your videos seem to get slower, more tiring, and safe as to offend or upset anyone.

I loved in your old videos how you’d always see a crush washer and say, “you should probably replace this, but I’m not going to.” People would fuss and complain in the comments, but you didn’t mind them. Now you seem to actually mind what these people are saying, I guess because they write your paycheck in a way, and are staying on a safe and proper ground to please them.

One of the things that irks me and an example is the use of the word “fastener.” You use it to describe every nut, bolt, clip, tie, and strap that you see. I know that’s what they are, and it’s 100% proper to call them that because that’s what they do, they fasten. But I feel like you’re trying to make these videos too proper and professional to the point where it’s losing its character.

Take this as input in the comment box, you obviously know what you’re doing and have become very successful at it. Here’s an example of the humor I am referring to in your older videos [around 9:45].

[quote=”Wrench Turner” post=58472]I would suggest having a beer or two before shooting a video. Hell, have one during the video.

        [Sarcastic] That’s a great idea! [/Sarcastic]

Might as well snort a line while you’re at it.

I like each video the way it is for the educational value.

I like to have fun just as much as the next guy and I don’t mind the occasional beer or 3. Besides, I’m more of a whisky drinker than a beer drinker. However, I would NEVER consider working on a vehicle while drinking or otherwise impaired. There is a real potential to get hurt doing that. Not to mention you could screw something up. At least that’s the way it is for me. I know plenty of guys that have a beer while they work on their stuff on the weekends, heck, I used to work with guys that used to drink on their lunch break, but not me. I drink plenty when I’m done working, I don’t need to do it during. Lastly, I take what I do as ETCG pretty seriously. I don’t want to give the impression that I don’t and I think ‘drinking on the job’ might be a little much. In summery, I’m not opposed to drinking or having a good time but I like to keep that separate from work and since ETCG is my job, you won’t see me drinking on the job.

In the mean time I’ll do what I can to ‘loosen up’. 🙂
