Loose break pads

      Hi,
I have Lexus Gs 300 2006. Recently I started to hear rattling noise in front when I go on an uneven road or over the bumps, or holes or those little reflectors in the middle of road. After little testing I realized it stops when i just little bit press on break going over those bumps so it looks like loose break pads. Now, I took it apart and it doesn’t seem like the break pads have any movement up and down ( I guess that would be the wrong size issue), but they are loose and moving to the sides especially the inner one. I checked the wear on them and I believe they have still some life left as the pads were still pretty thick. Also I saw there is a shims on both of the ( very thin, but they are there). So my questions is what can cause such a movement? It started to happen on both front breaks almost at same time. Is there posibility that caliper is bad and the piston doesn’t move properly?
Thank you for your time spend on this I appreciate any help.

Assuming you have the correct pads installed.
I would think it is a good time for a full service of the front brakes and calipers.
You may have seized / frozen slider pins.
Sticking issues with the caliper pistons.
        Broken brake hardware.

        This should be helpful.

Thank you for the suggestion and video… I guess I will leave this for professionals as it might be bad caliper.

It sounds more like missing or damaged brake hardware, the small clips on the caliper housing that help hold the pad still than anything else such as a bad caliper. You can purchase brake hardware usually for $20 or less at most auto parts stores. I would suggest checking for that and attempting to fix it with new hardware before giving up.

Thank you, I did check the hardware that holds the pads in caliper those seems to be same shape as they were when new, it s more something on the sides of the pads or caliper piston, because the pads are loosen in sideway movement the most. But I have the original shims there also. The weird part is that it started on both front wheels almost at same time. I will better inspect the hardware. Thank you
