      friend says he has this problem in his front passenger side. he said he checked it himself.

        Only after someone has had it apart and didnt get the bolts tight enough when they put it back together.

          im not sure. he said he had his pads replaced twice already, perhaps thinking thats the problem.

            We need more info.

            Is the caliper visibly loose? Is he experiencing warped rotors?

            I would have him double check his work and make sure the brake bolts and torqued down to specs. Also have someone pump the brake pedal while the wheels are off the vehicle to observe the caliper action.

            Did he use OEM pads or aftermarket? Was his rotors replaced or cut?

              I would recheck the work. If the pads need to keep being replaced. something
              wrong there. need more info on whats been done. sounds like just pads are
              being installed.

                It’s impossible to say in a situation like this what the exact problem is the only way to truly know is to remove the wheel and inspect the caliper. Here is a video that I did on replacing disc brakes that shows the correct lubricants and where to put them that might help you.
