A close friend of mine recently told me that he would soon own a 5-speed 1992 Dodge Colt. I’d never heard of one, so I looked it up. And allow me to tell you that I wasn’t impressed. Not caring much for FWD cars and pony numbers under 100, I scratched my head, wondering why he’d get such a vehicle. However, I’m not one to judge, and he said the car is an absolute steal at only $400, and it gets a new clutch before he comes into possession of it. I hope there’s not much more wrong with it, but nonetheless I told him I’d be more than willing to help with any work on it. He said that he’s not looking to make it fancy, as it is merely a means of transportation given its current condition, both cosmetic and internal-wise. In his words, it’s mainly a project to really get him into cars. A bunch of ideas were brought up, and he said he mainly just wants more power. After a little looking, I think a viable option is the 4g63 engine from an Eclipse. That’s just what I presented, and I think it could work. Now, keep in mind, I’m no master mechanic or modder. That just seems like the easiest swap to do, and he wants to go for it as his first project. Anyway, I’d like to hear opinions and options from you all. Try to keep things cheap yet reliable, and we’re trying not to deviate from FWD-I4 setups. Many thanks, guys. -Keys
