Hello Eric i am asking you this question for my next door neighbors. Well here is the story they need to get a wheelchair van for they oldest. Not only for him to get in it but also they need one that he can drive too. The story is that last year they son was hit and got very hurt by a drunk driver when he and his friends were on they way home. Then in 2:00 AM in the morning on Sunday Feb 9th of 2015. A drunk driver came and ran a red light and hit him and his friends in one of his friends car. He was sitting in the back sit of his friends car. So he was in the hospital and rehab center from Feb to May. Now he is left in a wheelchair. So last year they had to raise a lot of money so they could get a van for they son to get him around. Last year in November they were god bless to get a used Chrysler Town and Country mini van with a wheelchair ramp on the right side door. I don’t know what year it is but it is the one from 2008 to 2010. But yesterday he was learning to drive again. And he went to a place that they learn to show people like who in wheelchair vans how to drive a car or a van. But after that they got news that the van won’t work for they son to drive it that is cuz of the floor. In order for him to drive they need to find a van with a 14 inch dropped floor. And the van that they have now is only 10 inch dropped floor. So now they need to get a other van with the droop floor at 14 inch’s. Now even with the money that were able to raise last year. They still do not have lots of money. So i don’t know what van that they need to get with a 14 inch drooped. Also it needs to be a used van they can not get a brand new one or custom order van. So any idea’s let me know please?

I do have a few suggestions for you. One you can always look at Craigslist or autotrader or any of those other sites. Second it call around to the used dealerships in the area.

Now this third suggestion is bit of a stretch but I have heard of people getting wheelchair equipped vehicles this way. Call around to the various medical transport places in your area or the local dial a ride service by the government. Sometimes they do have stuff that is just too old or they need to sell because of some reason like they bought a new one or had to let go of some drivers for funding cuts.

Also there is the last suggestion of calling social services for help too on looking for one.
