I have a 2002 kia Sedona with 91,000 miles . On the way home my headlights and dash lights started to pulsate . They did it at idle and also while driving . There are no noises coming from engine . Is my alternator going out ? Also how could I check it? I do have a volt meter . Thanks .

I’d def check the alternator first. An auto parts store can do that for you for free if you don’t want to tackle this your own. Another often overlooked possibility is the actual amount of tension on the drive belt/ serpentine belt. Check your tensioner and any idler pulleys etc. Make sure proper tension is on the belt. Also make sure all of the auxiliary pulleys are moving freely and not restricted. This is best determined by removing the belt and turning the pulleys by hand. If the belt is too loose, it will affect the alternator. Conversely, if another component is creating resistance or slowing the belt down, it can also affect the alternator. Keep us posted. All the best
