Well I seem to be having more issues with the Dakota. When the lights are off my left turn signal works fine. Whenever i have the lights on, it doesnt work. It just dims out and wont blink like it should. Also when the lights are off the left tail light does not work but, when the lights are on the tail lights do not lighten up when the brake pedal is down but both are on. I am not very good with most electrical systems and have no idea where to start.

I would start with checking the bulbs. more than likely you will find some bad bulbs that are shorted internally. also if that don’t resolve the issue the next thing I would check would be the ground circuits for the lights involved.
If neither one of these solutions take care of the problem, please post and I’ll walk you through step by step how to trouble shoot this lighting system and associated switches and wiring.
        Good luck

I’ve seen this issue twice caused by a headlight bulb that was drawing excess current. I think the filament blows and refuses together creating a shorter filament that still lights but draws much more current. This is easy to see when you pull the bulb out.

dont be confused collegeman, i think its taken care of. I got two new tail light assemblys because they were bad and when I replaced them I pulled the bulbs and sure enough one of the connectors was full of crap. Sanded it out and put a new bulb in and now it all works great. I guess next time a lens breaks i should replace them right away. ha
