Hi All,
A very handy bit of knowledge, at least for the Lexus / Toyota crowd is the occasional OBD II tester error. What we have on the 3UZ FEs and probably a couple of similar Toyota and Lexus engines is a distaste for non-OEM OBD II testers. These tend to set a VSC error on the dash board after pulling codes from the car.
First of all, DO NOT PANIC. You most likely did not break it.
The step by step is as follows.
1. get yourself a piece of wiring. 1sqmm (audio jack cable) will do the trick, whatever that is in inches 😉
2. put the key in the ignition and set it to off.
3. hot-wire OBD pins 4 and 14 on the vehicle connector underneath your dash or ashtray or wherever4. turn key to ON, but don’t turn on the engine.
5. when VSC TESTING appears in your dash (after about 3 seconds or so), turn the key to OFF, and remove the wire from the ports.Voila
