      I want to preface this:

I know this is a 1999 GSX, and while non-DSMers will not find that spectacular, take my word for it, that this car is worth saving. Please advise based on this.

The rust is in the rear wheel well area near the rear doors and runs underneath the sideskirt areas along the rocker (yes I know unibody cars don’t have rockers, but it’s the best explanation I know). The first pictures will make it seem not as severe as it is, the last picture is a shot form inside the car with the interior removed looking down into the rocker area and show the severity of the rust.

I have no problem going to a shop, but I may not be able to afford it by this winter. Even though I am not going to drive it in the winter, it will be stored outside under a car cover (I live in an apartment complex). I am hoping some body shop guys can chime in and maybe even give me rough estimates on what a repair like this would cost. I would definitely appreciate it.

      The pictures:

Well if its rusted through I think the only possible thing to do is replace the infected parts. Other then that I would sand it down, and paint it with something to stop it from rusting. It will most likely rust through sooner or later but it might slow it down.
