I’ve done a few brake jobs using those channel pliers tools that I hate using but I want to get a simple tool like this:
So that I can do a full brake job on my Yaris which currently has warped discs.
There are left handed and right handed (clockwise / anti-clockwise threaded) tools and I don’t understand what difference either one will make… Why would some cars need one vs the other? And more importantly, which one do I need for my Yaris?

And yes you would need one for the other side. They spin in the opposite direction.
What do these tools do for you that a good C-clamp can’t? I’m not familiar with these tools, but it looks like they depress the piston into the caliper and not much else.

Because these tools are for screw-type caliper pistons. The C-clamp method would destroy them.Welp, had to Google that. Didn’t know that even simple parking brake adjusters are becoming so complex. Learned something new today, so at least the day hasn’t been a complete waste.
It’s becoming increasingly more difficult to do your own vehicle maintenance these days. Imagine, special tools are now required to retract a hydraulic piston. I suppose the day is coming when we’ll need a special tool just pop the hood latch.
